From Niche to Centre: City Centres as Places of Circular Lifestyles
On 15 December 2022, the monitoring committee of the Interreg Central Europe Programme decided to co-finance 53 new transnational cooperation projects with a total budget of nearly €100 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). One of the funded projects is the NiCE project (From Niche to Centre - City Centres as Places of Circular Lifestyles), of which we are a partner. The aim of the project is to develop and demonstrate new models for the transformation of central city spaces to enable their inhabitants to adopt sustainable lifestyles. An important aspect of the project will be to restore life to spaces that lost their functions during the pandemic. In Poland, we will carry out pilot activities in the Lower Silesian town of Brzeg Dolny, which is a partner of the project. Other project partners are the German Environment Agency (Project Leader), ENVIROS (Czechia), CityLAB Innovations for urban quality of life (Austria), Scientific Research Centre Bistra Ptuj (Slovenia), ENEA - Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Hungary) and Creative Industry Košice (Slovakia).
The NiCCE project is co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE 2021-2027 Programme
