NiCE project supports the development of circular lifestyles
On March 27-28, 2025, an International Meeting of Partners and the Steering Committee of the NICE project took place in Jihlava, Czechia, attended by representatives of the Research and Innovation Centre Pro-Akademia and the Bioenergy for the Region Cluster.
On the first day, a Knowledge Café session was organized, focusing on circular lifestyles in cities. Participants analyzed the steps cities can take to successfully implement circular lifestyles, with a particular emphasis on closing resource loops. The discussions took place in four thematic groups, covering education and awareness-raising, incentives and support, community exchange, and circular services and offerings.
In the afternoon, participants went on a study visit to local initiatives supporting circular lifestyles. They visited the SILO community center, the Útulek věcí reuse center, and the CIRCU material bank. These initiatives serve as inspiring examples of how circular principles can be practically implemented at the local level.
On the second day, representatives of RIC Pro-Akademia led a workshop on evaluating the project's pilot activities. Katarzyna Korczak, an expert from RIC Pro-Akademia, emphasized: "The pilots implemented in eight cities across Central Europe are crucial for testing new solutions, so thorough evaluation is essential to effectively replicate them in other locations."
The RIC Pro-Akademia team also presented the concept of the NiCE Knowledge Platform, which will serve as a virtual library of solutions developed within the project. The platform is set to launch in October 2025 and aims to provide valuable materials and resources to project participants and other interested stakeholders.
This meeting aimed to facilitate knowledge-sharing, exchange of experiences, and inspiration among project partners and external experts, which is essential for the effective implementation of circular solutions in various European cities. The NICE project supports sustainable development, benefiting the environment, local communities, and the economy.
