RIC Pro-Akademia Became an Observer of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)
UN Secretariate for Climate Change recommended to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) awarding the status of Observer of the UNFCCC to the RIC Pro-Akademia as an organisation competent in the areas the Convention involves.
Official decision of the Conference of the Parties in this matter will be made during the upcoming session of COP 24 in December 2018 in Katowice. The only condition is that at least 1/3 of the Convention's signatory countries will not make an objection to the Secretariate's recommendation.
According to the art. 7 par. 6 of the Convention, the Observers are allowed to participate in the Convention sessions and side events. Thus, the eldest representatives of the Convention signatories in the world will have a chance to be acknowledged with the results of our projects. The nearest occasion will take place in Katowice, as the Secretariate's recommendation allows us to participate in that session.
The Observer status has been gained so far by 5 Polish research and non-governmental organisations.
